Yesterday was the true “Earth Day”
Historic. Watershed. You can adopt all the disclosure regulations you want, but that won’t change corporate behavior, corporate strategy. That truism has been borne out by the bevy of disclosure regs adopted in the executive pay area in recent years.
This Washington Post article was on the front page about ExxonMobil’s proxy fight, Shell’s court decision and Chevron’s shareholder proposal. Alison Taylor has put together a nice package of media commentary on LinkedIn. And Nell Minow writes this note:
This is a monumental step forward in the history of corporate governance and the history of climate change. Engine No 1 made an incontrovertible business case and nominated highly credible candidates while Exxon bungled their response with too much money and not enough substance.
