About Zippy Point
What we do for you
Passionate about practical guidance? We are too!
At it's heart, Zippy Point provides instructional videos for those in the corporate & securities law, corporate governance and E&S fields - both those that are newbies, as well as those that are quite experienced that want to remain on the cutting-edge. All of the content on Zippy Point is free - yep, available for free. There really is no hitch.
You can learn about the top fears, issues, concerns & worries in our community. The ones that everyone is talking about. The hot topics. But you can also learn about the ones that no one talks about. The elephants in the room. Here’s a set of FAQs to consider.
You get the practical guidance you deserve without the fuss. Our motto? Right to the point. Every time.
What do you get? Come enjoy these five practical resources:
- Broc’s Blog – Broc has been blogging daily since 2002, one of the first lawyers to blog. Broc’s blogging style is inviting. Judiciously worded, right to the point, interesting, with more than a touch of humanity.
- Vid-Guides – You can choose from over 560 videos on-demand. Rarely longer than 15 minutes – many less than 5 minutes - these videos cover what you really need to know in a wide variety of areas, from fairly-technical to not-so-technical-at-all.
- “Le Quick” Newsletter – This monthly online print publication is called “The Quick” because you can cruise through the meaty stuff in just five minutes!
- Z-Events – Perhaps the best benefit of all! Tap into any of our numerous events without paying an exorbitant fee – everything on Zippy Point is “pay-what-you-can.” Some of the Z-Events are “annual” events, like the “Proxy Season Spectacular,” “In-House Institute” and “E&S Disclosure Workshop.” Some of them are one-offs, either to cover a hot, new development - or a "bread & butter" topic that doesn't need to be covered every year.
- Inner Circles – You can join an online community that caters to your interests. These communities are established on an ad hoc basis – so feel free to reach out to Broc if you have an idea for a new one!
Your Team
Broc Romanek is the Founder & Editor of Zippy Point. Well, he’s the entire staff. But Broc does rely upon his friends to participate in panel discussions so you can get the practical guidance you need. So please pay-what-you-can (when you post all your content for free, you need to remind folks to contribute). Broc can be reached through broc@zippypoint.com or via LinkedIn. And here is his Twitter handle and YouTube channel.
If Broc had to describe himself, the positive traits that characterize him best would be pragmatic, innovative, decisive, analytical & empathetic. Oh yes, and fun.
As for negative traits, it could be that he cares too much. I know that sounds self-serving, who lists their deficiencies in a bio? Now for the more formal bio…
Broc also serves as Editor of RealGoodFresh.com, a mindfulness & wellness site on which he shares practice tips to make you feel good, as well as his own personal journey in this area.
Until the end of 2019, Broc Romanek was Editor of TheCorporateCounsel.net, CompensationStandards.com, DealLawyers.com and CorporateAffairs.tv. He also served as Editor for the "Deal Lawyers" print newsletter - and still serves as the Editor for the "Corporate Governance Advisor." He was Commissioner of TheCorporateCounsel.net’s “Blue Justice League” and curator of its “Deal Cube Museum.”
Broc also is an author of these Treatises: Romanek’s “Proxy Season Disclosure Treatise & Reporting Guide”; Romanek’s “In-House Essentials Treatise”; Morrison & Romanek’s “The Corporate Governance Treatise” and Lynn, Borges & Romanek’s “Executive Compensation Disclosure Treatise.” He also is the author of the paperbacks: “Reg FD Tales,” “Section 16 Tales” and “101 Pro Tips – Career Advice for the Ages.” Broc also served as producer & host of “Big Legal Minds,” a podcast for the corporate & securities law – and corporate governance – community.
Broc is a four-time Chair of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Society of Corporate Governance and served on that Chapter’s board for 20 years. He is a former member of the Society’s National Board of Directors (having served two terms). He also is a Past Chair of the Association of Corporate Counsel’s Corporate & Securities Law Committee and formerly served on the Advisory Council for the SEC Historical Society. He taught a class in corporate governance for the George Mason University Executive MBA program and a "Securities Regulation" course at George Mason Law School.
Before his time at TheCorporateCounsel.net, Broc was Founder & Editor of RealCorporateLawyer.com. In addition, he has served as Assistant General Counsel at a Fortune 50 company, was in the Office of Chief Counsel of the SEC’s Division of Corporation Finance, acted as Counselor to former SEC Commissioner Unger and was in private practice.
He frequently writes and speaks about corporate & securities law and corporate governance - Broc has been quoted in the press many times over the years. He has blogged for over 21 years, starting on RealCorporateLawyer.com, TheCorporateCounsel.net, CompensationStandards.com, DealLawyers.com - and now he is having fun with the blog on this site).
He has a BBA from the University of Michigan and a JD from the University of Maryland. Broc is a certified hypnotist. That’s not a fib, he really is a certified hypnotist. He also is certified as a pickleball teacher.
Your Advisors
At some point, I'm going to compile a list of folks that have appeared in one (or more) of our Vid-Guides. The list will also include those that are informal advisors, but whom haven’t appeared in a Vid-Guide, not yet anyway…
