Farewell to Scott Spector

I’m sad to note that we have lost a giant in the legal field as Scott Spector passed away last week. Scott was a mentor to so many of us, either directly or indirectly through the people he mentored over a long career.

People gravitated to Scott’s leadership, both in Silicon Valley where he worked for many years at Fenwick & West and across the country as he frequently spoke on executive pay issues.

Scott spoke at every proxy season conference that I produced – and for good reason. Scott could take complex issues and make them seem simple. He loved the law. One of those rare lawyers who truly loved the law. It wasn’t easy for Scott to retire a few years ago.

Of course, Scott was much more than a lawyer. A kind and generous family man. A loyal friend. He will be missed sorely.
