With Gratitude to John Olson!

Recently, I blogged about my 20th anniversary for my first website – RealCorporateLawyer.com – and I immediately thought of John. For those that don’t know the legend that is John Olson, listen to the podcast I taped with him a few years ago.

When I launched that first site – now defunct – in short order, I received a sincere and flattering email from John congratulating me. That sort of thing was rare back then, particularly from someone I didn’t know that well at the time. It was a show of support that anyone launching something new-fangled desperately needs.

Over the years, I got to know John much better. He delivered some amazing keynote speeches at our annual proxy disclosure conference (here is one about the risks of not shooting straight). I served with John on a number of panels. And I even had the pleasure of going out one night with him and legendary Delaware lawyer, Frank Balotti.

John is a lawyer’s lawyer. One of the best. Someone I did bring in to hire when I was in-house myself. And a good friend…
